Ep 10: How Agoraphobia affects my life
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
In this episode Tina talks to Sky about agoraphobia and her experience of how it affects her life plus the steps she has taken to help her overcome the physical symptoms with things like exposure therapy. We have a chat about our upbringing, secondary school and how bullying may have played a part in developing agoraphobia.
We also discuss famous people with the condition such as Emily Dickinson and Emma Stone.
According to the Mayo Clinic:
"Agoraphobia is a type of anxiety disorder in which you fear and avoid places or situations that might cause you to panic and make you feel trapped, helpless or embarrassed. You fear an actual or anticipated situation, such as using public transportation, being in open or enclosed spaces, standing in line, or being in a crowd.
The anxiety is caused by fear that there's no easy way to escape or get help if the anxiety intensifies. Most people who have agoraphobia develop it after having one or more panic attacks, causing them to worry about having another attack and avoid the places where it may happen again."

Ep 8: What the Famine and CoronaVirus have in common
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
These things don't exist in a vacuum, disasters are created!
In this podcast Tina and Sorcha discuss what disasters ACTUALLY are. How they are made up of 'pre impact conditions' consisting of vulnerabilities and how our systems, like in Texas only last week, and people in charge leave us at high risk to disaster which is a combination of what is called a "Hazard Event" (think earthquake) and the vulnerabilities in a society and systems (think badly regulated buildings which collapse and kill people).
We go through the three waves/years of the COVID and FAMINE response and discuss the illusion of 'individual responsibility'.
We hope this is a podcast that will help you put a framework to this situation that allows you to conceptualise and talk about it in a concrete way, not just at the evil ghost of deregulation and neoliberal politics.

Ep 7: Letters of Constance Markievicz Pt1: A Hare On the Run
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
In this special series of readings, Tina reads the letters of Constance Markievicz as she is on the run from the British in the 1920s in an effort to get to know the woman behind the icon.
Constance Markievicz was a suffragette, activist, socialist, and the first woman elected to the Westminster Parliament devoting her life to Ireland's freedom, the poor and women's rights.
In April 1916 Markievicz took part in the Easter Rising, a republican insurrection in Dublin against British government in Ireland.
In the letters we learn more about the woman, her perspective, views, loyalties and incredible sense of community as well as her own perception of herself as a hare 'on the run'
