These things don't exist in a vacuum, disasters are created!

In this podcast Tina and Sorcha discuss what disasters ACTUALLY are. How they are made up of 'pre impact conditions' consisting of vulnerabilities and how our systems, like in Texas only last week, and people in charge leave us at high risk to disaster which is a combination of what is called a "Hazard Event" (think earthquake) and the vulnerabilities in a society and systems (think badly regulated buildings which collapse and kill people).

 

We go through the three waves/years of the COVID and FAMINE response and discuss the illusion of 'individual responsibility'.

 

We hope this is a podcast that will help you put a framework to this situation that allows you to conceptualise and talk about it in a concrete way, not just at the evil ghost of deregulation and neoliberal politics.
